Xiao Lin begins every morning by listening to the birds sing, then heads to the river to wash her face. She gathers fruit and vegetables for breakfast, which she eats by the doorway while enjoying the view of the forest. After breakfast she tends her many flowers, watering them and checking their leaves, feeling it is the most important part of her day. On this particular morning a light rain falls, filling the air with beautiful sounds, and afterwards the sun comes out to light up the glistening leaves. Xiao Lin takes a small basket out to feed the animals, and is delighted when a bird lands on her hand and a deer walks over to greet her.
