Xiao Lin has a favourite flower she named Xiao Hong - a beautiful red flower she visits, waters, and talks to every day. One day she discovers Xiao Hong's leaves have turned yellow and aren't improving despite watering. Investigating closely, she finds bugs in the soil and a tall tree blocking most of the sunlight. She wonders whether the cause is lack of light, too much or too little water, or poor soil, but can't be sure. After sitting beside Xiao Hong for a long time, worried she might die, Xiao Lin decides to take a walk in the forest the next day to find out how to help her.
